Provencal markets

The marchés in France are generally open air markets, a place to shop for your fresh groceries. We prefer to buy meat, fish and produce there rather than in the supermarkets. The marchés are fabulous, free entertainment, good for shopping and for people watching. Sit in one of the cafés next to a market and while away the morning. The Provence and The Côte d'azur has probably the best markets in France.

Most open air markets are farmers markets, a retail market where you can buy vegetables, fruits, cheeses, meat and poultry, sausages, spices, candied fruits, nougat and flowers. The larger Marché Provençal offers all of the farmers markets' products plus clothing, shoes, linens, pottery and many other useful and not so useful Provence knickknacks.

Every morning, just behind the Tourism Office, beyond the "Porte de la Poissonnerie", the arch which leads to the old part of the town, fishermen and their wives, look after their stalls where they sell: sea dace, red mullet, scorpion fish, squid, moray and other local fish.

Christmas at Saint-Tropez

Each year in December

Christmas is for children with Christmas presents and Christmas parties… A warm and friendly atmosphere prevails in every part of the town, amidst the illuminations and decorations which make up the enchantment of Christmas. Many animations and events are in store: the enchanted forest and the skating rink, shows, concerts, exhibitions, the arrival of Father Christmas from the sea, and the traditional evening before midnight Mass. Also the large "anchoïade" and fireworks on New Year's Eve. Not to be missed, the scientific debates open to the public, free entrance "les mystères du XXIème siècle", this year's theme is the climate.

Big Street market of Saint-Tropez

Each year, at the end of october

Envied by numerous cities, the Big Street market of Saint-Tropez heaved itself at the rank of events to be missed under no pretext...

The first weekend of the scholastic vacation of All Saints' Day, from Friday till Monday, including the streets of the City of Bailli become the theatre of a prodigious show: shop windows to come in front of the windows of trade, wardrobes wander, provided with rooms at slaughtered prices, boutiques organize their big mark down...During these some days, it is a true effervescence of customers who goutent for the pleasure of coming back to Saint-Tropez, and who are of benefit to make purchases and to find the ultimate at the best price...

Besides good deals to be hunted out, ambience is there convivial and very nice, especially at the end of day, on the terraces of coffees of the harbour or the place "des Lices"... The evening came, the restaurants of the very whole city will know how to receive you to charm your tatse bud.

In Saint-Tropez opening of the exhibition park at 9 am. Private evening at 9.30 pm.

Second day, opening of the Park on the harbour car park at 10 am. At 11.30 elegance contest. At 12 cocktail offered by the Town. At 2.30 car parade on the harbour. At 5 pm prize awarding for the elegance contest.

Closing private dinner.

The Voiles de Saint-Tropez

Each tear in October

The Voiles de St Tropez Regatta is THE closing event of the summer season in St Tropez. Over 300 of the most amazing racing yachts from all over the world, - classic and modern - plus 3500 crew, unite in St Tropez for a week of racing and festivities. The event takes place during the first week in October.

The entire port of St Tropez is filled for the week with classic sailing yachts - a spectator sport in and of itself. Sailing enthusiasts walk the port just gawking at the beauty of these yachts, and then take a spectator boat out on the water to watch the numerous races. The air is festive all day and late into the evening.
